Story Time...

The Island
Most people I've meet familiar with Corsica remember that year the Tour de France had a leg on the island.  First things first, this island's part of France.  Second, Corsica is the birth place of Napoleon Bonaparte.  Google and my guide book (Cicerone, by Paddy Dillon) have volumes of additional interesting information that'll I'll spare myself the trouble of copying.

The Hike
Distance of the GR20 without variances is about 118mi with over 41kft elevation gained.  Along the route are refuges, or gites.  It's possible to purchase food and shelter, helping reduce what needs to be carried.

This hike, like all others is planned solo.  As of now, a friend (Josh) will be meeting me on Corsica to accompany me along the way.

For the time being have decided to hike the trail North to South and am allotting nine days for the hike with a "rest/ inclement weather" day in the middle.  Weather permitting, I'm shooting for no more than 8 days on the trail leaving some extra time to explore the beaches of Corsica.

The trail itself is comprised of two parts, a Northern and Southern section.  From what I've read, the Northern half is more similar to the Alps, while the Southern has grassy slopes.

The End.
