Captain's Log, stardate 2012

The purpose of this Blog is to provide the specifics of my up coming trip to family, friends and old acquaintances who I thought may be interested.

I don't expect or necessarily desire someone to hike the entire 105 miles with, but would welcome a meeting along the trail in a mountain village or to share a beer at Oktoberfest.

Beyond the specifics you can gleam from wiki, here's a summary:
Trail name: Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB), accredited with being the birthplace of mountaineering.
Distance: 105 miles.
When: September 10th - 19th.
Hike: 9-10 days, counterclockwise around the Mont Blanc Massif in the Swiss Alps.  This trail is a loop, originally walked by a Swiss guy named Saussure in the 1700's in an attempt to find the first route to ascend Mont Blanc.

Conveniently enough, along the trail are small villages punctuating a days hike with some offering transportation to and from.  Several of the larger villages Chamonix, Courmayeur and Champex to name a few are tourist havens and would make a worthwhile destination point if hiking isn't in your stars.

The 'Title' image was taken from Reddit by a user named happylittleducks.  Here's another quick pic pulled from the Internet that sparked my interest in this trail so many years ago.  This particular section is along Lac Blanc.

As most pictures were taken from image searches without permission of use, I intend on taking similarly amazing photos while there to share with the Internet in the hopes of restoring any lost karma.

Oktoberfest isn't as important as completing the hike, but a welcome reward for having done so.  Opening weekend is in Munich, Germany on 9/22 and I intend on being there.
